FLOWERS FOR ME

It isn't every day that a guy gets a big bunch of beautiful flowers. Wow, who can these be from? AWWWWWWWWWWW they're from my girlfriend Honey the Great Dane, gee thanks Honey they're just gorgeous!

Some of you might remember a couple of months ago me and my friends Cinnamon the Beagle and Charlie the Poodle were asked to help judge Honeys dancing with the Doggy Stars Competition. Well this weekend was the Big Event.

For the past two months doggies and their humans have been practising and a pointing, boogying and a breakdancing from Belgium to the USA, from France to Estonia and all the way down to NZ. 31 entries of fun and laughter. It was really hard judging them cos we thought they were all fantastic.

Well without further woofin from me, if you want to see what its all been about head on over with me to Honeys.

INTERVIEW WITH A FRENGUIN

Bodie the Border Terrier here reporting from the garden studio of smallbrowndogstv. I am honoured to have been asked to be on a panel of 3 judges to judge a dance competition to be held over the next couple of months. Part of my brief is that I showcase a dance routine. Being a really busy guy I did ask if I could simply show one of my existing routines but was told not to be so lazy and to do something fresh. So this week I advertised for a dance partner. To date I have had only one applicant. The following is the interview. Hello there frog, welcome to smallbrowndogstv. Thanks Bodie nice to be here - - Ahem, I'm a penguin actually ....... What's with the green flippers - shouldn't they be black? It's algae, - very hard to get off.

Why are they so big, don't penguins have very small flippers?

How rude, yes I have big feet, time to see a chiropodist and have them trimmed.

Oh dear, now I've hit a nerve the penguin has started to chew its feet.

Do you believe in positive reinforcement?

What do you mean?
I mean if I do something right you give me a treat. UM aren't you hiring me, shouldn't you throw me a fish or something?

?

How about we do an audition and I will see how you go with some of my moves, like weaving and jumping and spinnin and stuff. And I'll let you know. Oh that would be fantastic, come here and let me hug you you gorgeous little dog. Let me go!!!! Heres a preview of the audition, me n my new dance partner have 6 weeks to nail something respectable, cos not to be too blunt, the penguin needs help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JGhZCEe53c So head on over to Honeys blog and check it out.

PAWDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

I've been on a mission this week. Mum found out that Norwood the Auzzie Blue Heeler X was holding a Film competition and the entries have to be in this weekend!!! Seeing as I am the Fred Astaire of dog dancing our entry was for the entertainment section. I've been on the go all week.

Am a bit exhausted, had a busy day. Got any treats?

Teaching Mum how to do the paw touches. I started our training way way back with a clicker. A clicker "marked" every movement that I had to do. So now I know that a "click" means I'll get a treat eventually too. Our paw touches first started with Mum in front and then she moved them to stand over me like here, or if you're really clever like me you can tap the back of your humans feet.

Here's the other paw up. Not as high on this one, cos I haven't got a hand to tap.

The beg position. Mmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmm, theres probably a treatie in that hand methinks.

And the hind leg stand. I used to walk round the house like this. Probably cos I'm a tad short and the benches where all the food are are so tall. I often get told "ALL FOUR FEET ON THE FLOOR PLEASE"

Here's my entry for the "Pawdance Film Festival". I was picked for the starring role thanks to my agent.

BARK IN THE PARK

I've been told that I have to share my blog today with lots of other doggies, not just Border Terriers and my buddies!!!! I'll try. On Sunday Purina held a big Bark in the Park fun day at my favourite off lead park Waiatarua Reserve. Except cos there were lots of doggies there we all had to be on lead. All us dogs got a special scarf for the day. Looks like the scarves came in only one size. This guys drowning in his.
One of the big attractions of the day was the beauty parlour, you should have seen the queue. Here's a schnauzer getting his eyebrows trimmed and tweezed.

Just in case you were missing me here's another shot of me in my scarf. (Bodie, get on with it - ed) Ok ok, you want to see some different dogs, I can't understand why....

A Westie waiting for his turn at the Poodle Parlour.

A bull mastiff, hey Honey did this guy enter the drool competition??

And another bull mastiff, he looks like he's settled in for the day.

My cousin Finnegan the schnitzel.

There were lots of demos going on during the day like Agility, Flygility, Customs dogs and Dancing dogs. Heres my buddy Moss doing some warm ups for his dance.

And Brody going over his manoevres.

Mozzie the Beardie

Apollus the Siberian Husky

I'll get in trouble if I smuggle in any more photos of me. But if you want to see some of the dancing, and some more of Bark in the park check this out.

PAWS N MUSIC CAMP TURANGI

Last weekend I met up with 20 other dogs from around the country for New Zealands first ever Paws N Music camp at Turangi Holiday Park. It's usually where the skiers stay in winter but in summer it was the perfect place for all us dogs and our humans. No I didn't drive the van down, I am only 5, I'm just waiting..... patiently....... for Mum to hurry up and pack. First we have to go and pick up my Border Brothers Moss and Onny.
Lets blow this popsicle stand and get the show on the road!

There were lots of things going on all weekend so that dogs who were beginners could start learning tricks and there was a class on computers and dancing for the humans as well. So after some intense training for us we would get to rest and hang about outside with our mates. Me again lining up for a fancy dance move, maybe a weave, not sure how I'm going to weave through there - do you think I'm a chihuahua?

Morning tea time and taking our humans for a walk.

Fergus the Beardie doing his weaves

More downtime, we've obviously got a great union. Andrea brought us a huge pile of my favourite toys, milking teats. Here's True checking them out for any flaws.

Back into class and thinking hard about spinning in time with the music
Cinnamon the Beagle balancing on a ball. I still have a lot to learn by the looks of it. Mmmm, might mean more treats....

If you'd like to see us all in action here's a link to our antics on You Tube

PAIRS DANCING

You know how I told you I did HTM dancing stuff. Well at the moment I am working on a fun "Pairs Routine" with my friend Honey the Great Dane. Now that I have had my summer stripping I look a bit like a mini Honey but with a beard. and black ears. Here's some pics of us practising our routine. We're just making it up as we go along at the moment, its a big work in progress.

Are all 12 legs still in time with the music??
We'll keep you posted once we get those humans sorted properly.

How about I just lie here and look real cute, do you think thats a good trick?? This is me on YouTube working on my dancing. I lost a bit of concentration in there, such a big ring, so much to sniff..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAaWirK86Ak

Me dancing again. I have nice straight back legs which makes this really easy for me to do. I do this alot in the kitchen as it makes me nearly as tall as the kitchen bench which is one of my favourite haunts!! Check this link out on You Tube to see all my buddies who hang out at dance class with me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qi4Zp6JH4o

One of the things I do is Heelwork to Music. I have learnt lots of tricks with clicker and food training and then we have put all my tricks into a dance routine. Our music at the moment is Eagle Rock. We belong to a group called Choreodography Connection and sometimes we do demos for parties and dinners and we even performed at Dog Expo a couple of years ago. I like performing at kids parties the best cos they are more my size. Heres a picture of me doing my paws up trick.
