We've had a bit of a scary week. Goose has been having grande mal seizures. 7 in a week and four last Sunday week which saw her raced into the VSG hospital and onto a drip. We are not sure if it is epilepsy, or a reaction to a change in flea medication, - a pill. In any case the flea medication says not to give to dogs with seizures so its going in the bin now. And we understand that this flea medication shouldn't be given to dogs with gut issues either so should never have put Goo on it. Now we wait and see what happens. We have to have six months seizure free before we can even think of coming off the epilepsy meds and we are looking to find a kinder flea medication. All quiet on the Western front now.
Hi! I recommend you try to change your border terrier's diet as it's common with border terrier's having a disease called CANINE EPILEPTOID CRAMPING SYNDROME - which is often confused with epilepsy. It's not the same though, and should not be treated as the same. Read more about it at http://www.borderterrier-cecs.com/cecs_handout.htm. Not all vets know about it, so if I were you I would bring the information to the vet - that's what I did with mine. Good luck!
