Apparently I have goals to achieve this year. Yes, you may be as surprised as me to learn this. I am a dog, and I have goals!!!!!! You've got to be doggone jokin..........

Whatever happened to just bein a dog? Sniffin butts, rolling in stinky stuff, sleepin on the couch for 18 hours a day, barkin at the cats next door for daring to sit on our drive, chewin on ma paw and hangin out by the fridge? Those were the days........

Well apparently my goals, yes its goals with an essss, not just the one, are within the realms of possiblility otherwise my partner in crime would lose faith. #1. To get our Rally Novice Title. Apparently this is quite achievable, we need two champ shows with marks over 90. I do think I already have one under my belt but I have yet to retrieve the evidence. My filing clerk is more than a little lax, it's in here somewhere, gonna have to fire her ass.

#2 is a little more difficult - I am determined to get the hang of the WEAVES but it is proving to be a bit of a struggle. How many times do I have to tell you, don't put your hand on your side, that is your obedience hand and is telling me to stick to you like a teflon dog, not do weave poles.

Whats the matter, are you sick? Come on, you can do it!! We're not quitters round here. GET UP! I will help you.

OK, now try a different arm position, get rid of that obedience hand signal. There you go, you're getting it.

There is hope yet, you are going to look a bit naff running round the field like that but hey, I still love ya.

#3 goal is a CLEAR ROUND, where I stay in the ring for the whole course and dont miss any jumps n tunnels. That is called a STRETCH TARGET. Hmmmmm - back to my couch.

We have it on fairly good authority that summer is coming in March. We are not sure what happened to November, December, January. And here is us last weekend. This was a very hot day for a change and that yellow stuff on the grass is a rare thing called "sun" so I'm told. We're making the best of it. Last weekend we filled the bus with all my buddies and took off to Rerewhakaaitu, one of the lakes near Lake Rotorua.

Looks postcard perfect doesn't it, we're trying to keep up bright and breezy appearances, we're sure you don't want photos of our rain.

Being a true host I let Max have the master bedroom. Hmph!

Leaving me n Onny to top n tail in substandard accomodations. We have put in a complaint to management!

Goose came too and kept a pretty low profile, enjoying the breezes under the bus.

So seeing as its not got too hot yet, the fur puller outerer is wondering whether to skip my summer strip and let me get reeeeeeeeeeeeeally hairy this winter like Hairy McLeary. What do you think?

Well as the master groomer hasn't got me to pick at, look what she did to my cousin Finn. She did a one day course.

Plucked, n washed, n clipped, n stripped, n shaved him.

3) Bella the pirate border terrier in Iceland. She does similar stuff to Mrs Magoo like bikin n trackin and she does tricks like me. And Iceland is as different from New Zealand as you can be as its on the other side of the planet so we love reading about how different Bellas' life is to ours.

4) Hana in Japan is hikin all the mountains with her Dad, and her adventures just blow our mind. In this one, her Dad was throwin her across the rivers. The photos on here are beautiful too.

5) Annas Food Safari jjust to show that its not all about dogs on our blog and that we DO have some perspective we also think this cooking blog of one of Mums friends is funny too. If ya can cook or ya can't cook, this is pretty funny, and makes us hungry anyway. Anyone for a dish sponge n a cuppa?

FRIENDS FOR CHRISTMAS

Two days after Christmas our friends from Wellington came to stay. As they don't have any doggies or kitties to play they were a bit nervous about meeting us. So we hid in the van when they arrived and then came out one at a time so as not to overwhelm them with a full on overexcited terrier welcome. Me first of course into the back yard to show off some of my tricks. Then we showed our new friends how to be really still (and boring) round new dogs. And keep their hands down at their sides and open so I didn't think there were any treaties in there. And before they came down off the deck to meet me Mum ran round and round the garden like an egit waving her arms around and pretending she was all scared so of course I chased her. So of course we ignored them cos they did the still thing really well and Mum was looking all excitin.

It didn't take very long at all and we had won them over. Me soakin up all the wuzzes.

So the first day we just did cool calm stuff. With not any racing about or barkin, Mum had hid all our toys. So just lots of love n cuddles and moochin about.

Look at me not jumpin up on the table to help with breakfast. We think we should get a medal for this cool calm and collected stuff. Dunno how long it can last though.

Its been all kind of windy and rainy here for a couple of weeks, but Goose found a dry spell and took everyone for a walk. I was busy at home assuming my position on the couch.

Think she wore everybody out. Good on the Goose.

Then when we lulled everyone into a false sense of security we got out the big guns. My fave tuggy toy and all the agiliteez equipment. Let the games and the WOOFIN begin.

TENNIS, TOOTHPASTE N ELEPHUNTS

Honestly, the Goose seemed to nick me last blog, and she seems to feature on this blog so I thought I would start with a picture of my extremely GOOD LOOKIN self in case you forgot who the writer was. Puff puff pant pant, all this writin isn't easy you know. The keys on a laptop aren't exactly pertinent to me paws.

Not withstanding that Blogger has been particularly kind tonight and let us upload our photos in record time so please excuse the 'eggzorbitant' amount of photos of the Goose with a tennis ball. I mean really and truly.

The lovely rainbow coloured ball wot everyone commented on and said 'Oh how lovely' lasted till Boxing Day when it dieded.

So we sent Mum back to work this week and she came home with a great big tennis ball wot has kind of fur on it like a tennis ball and we are giving it a BORDER TERRIER test to see if it lasts more than 2 days.

First job for the Goose to remove the gladwrap, more space junk!!!

Right well to be scientifically fair - the test needs to be the same on all balls which means Magoo gets to play with them for about OH give or take 8 minutes. By which time either the ball is gonna DIE BY TEETH or the Goose will DIE BY EGGZORSTION

So by about here where she stops and just looks at it Mum reckons she can risk life n limb and nimbly remove it from the Gooses teeth n her "Beckham nimble" feet.

Yep, just in time, that tongue is about cooked. If anyone knows of a ball that will stand the test of time now is a good time to let us know. I mean even our friend Zack in Canada has demolished a hardy looking basketball. Maybe a giant cricket ball kind of thing do you think?

Just in case you thought I had disappeared, this is what I was doing while all this was going on. Its called 'Mum Multitaskin' apparently....., cow milkin thingies - my fave thing........

And now for a quiz - Which of these 3 fings don't belong in this picture? Yep the Chicken Flavoured toothpaste which Mum found out does not hold much healin properties for her foot blisters. Not a good idea to put two blue tubes side by side on the bench when you is silly AND has bad eyesight.

And now for the elephunts. The zoo is just by Western Springs which is 5 minutes Magoo speed walk down the road from our house. So sometimes at 3 and 4 and 5am in the morning we can hear the monkeys and the lions at the zoo (if we is not sleepin). And Mum went there this week with her friends and took some photos of Burma "Bush Bear". (Honestly if I'd known you could do this as a career I would have paid attention in Biology and got myself a degree)

Seeing as I'm off laderon to visit with my friends Garvie Coco and Mozzie, the Goose went for one of her crazy long walks all round the planet this morning.

First to somewhere close by, Western Springs which is a freshwater spring about 5 minutes walk at Magoo speed down the road.

Lots of scary ducks n geese n swans there which are to be treated with the utmost respect.

The Goose not showing that much respect at all, NOMS.

She has no idea that they would eat her for breakfast.

Then they went on a walk that I dread, an unknown walk where they don't know how far they are going or where they are going. The Goose would walk all day.

See, sled dog, all 5.9kgs pulling Mum up the hill.

With more energies for explorin.

Up the stairs , still pullin, where does she get her energies from.

It was round about here they got lost so back down the stairs, through the bush.

Well all that walkin in new shoes meant that someone...

While Mum was walking back home in her bare feets a man walking behind them made and ucky face and gave her some advice. He said that in the army they wore cut off stockings under thier socks and that meant that the blisters stuck to the stockings and. (ugh I've heard enough already). And don't go giving my Mum fashion advice like that, we have to be seen in publics with her.

SANTAS HERE. Look who paid us a sprise visit yesterday!!!!!

After two weeks of being very busy cyclin round Mums office and winning the "Pimp My Pod" compytishun, Santa came round for a quick visit before he was off to the North Pole.

The reindeers was having the afternoon off so Border Terrier Taxi Service to the rescue.

All good doggies get to sit on Santas knee and tell him what they want for Christmas.

I LOVE PRESENTS.

We did try to have some fun with Santa but he was more than a little tired.

I think you're a bit big for my agiliteez tunnel my man. I can try and pull ya out.

Aunty came round with presents. On behalf of the Goose I will open that one!!!

I'm an expert at shredding and tinsel removals.

NOMS!!! I have to lay a complaint, - these are being rationed. Even though I did suggest that I could easily eat this in one go. Its still not finished and we got it three days ago. That's not in the spirit of Christmas.

Next to rocks, this is Gooses favourite thing. Coulda just wrapped some rocks up for the Goose and spent the money on treaties for MEEEE...

We've got some friends coming to stay next week so we can show them how to play football.

Tennis, I guess I can share one of these with our guests. And teach em some agiliteez, n take em for walks and ....... are they coming soon Mum???

RAW ESSENTIALS

Last week when we logged onto the pooter we came across an email that said verbatim

"Your delightful story about Bodie and Magoo is up on the website as December's winner. Pop in to Grey Lynn or Glenfield and pick up $50 worth of goodies from our freezers at your convenience".

Last year we changed our diet and just started eatin raw stuff and wrote a story about it. And the lovely folks at the doggy foodables shop read it and invited me to go up there and choose this months dinner. WOW thanks guys.

So Mum ordered a taxi for me to go up and "Bring Home the Bacon" as it were. First I had to check out all the options , even though the lids are closed I know this stuff is all for me. Well ok, and the Goose.

At times like these I could do with my friend Honeys legs.... SIGH

Yep, put them in the basket, they're delish.

And thems, I love that stuff. Quick as ya can.

Mum was messin round so I made meself useful. Can I help you young man?

This afternoon the Goose n Me were assigned to a Top Secret Mission

Our mission for today, we are posin as live reindeers - yes folks "LIVE REINDEERS" for Mums "PIMP MA POD" compatishun at work...........

Here we is helpin the "Not so Live" reindeers. In fact one of em is sniffin the ground.

Helpin along with the teddies to look cute, we think this should add a gazillion percents to the score!!

Me just doin some bin investigayshuns, hope theres no paper in there, this is a paperless office after all. And Goose interviewin Teddy, "They treatin you allright in here ma man?" "Givin ya honey?"

Onto the next pod for some posin, how many of these pods are there decorated, is this in our contract?

Whose that fat guy? I think he's gonna lay a helf n safety complaint if he kin ever get hisself unstuck!!!

That guy again, he sure does get around, think he's in need of alot of surgeries, he is not lookin to helfy, but bikin's gotta be good for him.

Our reindeer buddy looks like he needs to be taken outside to the bathroom. More OSH regulayshuns no doubt!!!

We was then invited to visit my buddy Mumble from Happy Feet - cos his igloo was downstairs lookin all Christmassy.

CHRISTMAS WINDUPS

Now that we're coming to the end of the year we are winding down for summer. Friday night saw the Goose n Me lettin the staff have the night off. Helpin with the dance moves for the office party. Somethin bout Back to the 80s.

You better hope there's a big Dance Floor if ya gonna do Karate Kid dancing. I think ya need the top hand a little higher for the Crane move. Some people at her party even asked her if she used to practise Karate, heck she can't even walks round the garden without breakin her toe!!

Then on Satday night we had our dog club breakup and I won the cup for "Dog Member of the Year". Well acshully Mum got it fer I think bossin people round the Obedience ring, "turn left, turn right, HALT NOW!!!" But its a border blog so I get to do the big poses.

Then on Thursday night it was the last night of our Agility Class. The terrier class of 2011. So farewell to Sparky the Westie.

Georgie the Aussie, have a nice Christmas and see you next year.

FIRST AGILITY SHOW

Our club had an agility show on Sunday so after 5 weeks of intense training I dragged Mum along to see what we could do. Last minute instructions

Yeah yeah I know concentrate, concentrate, no sniffin.

And we're off, I have to let you in on a secret, this was the second attempt, the first one I went round the side and so the timer didn't even start. This ones a PASS.

This jump was actually me having another run at the end - once all the Micro weeny teeny dogs was done. I think these teeny tiny jumps are much more me, what do you think. I'll have you know that I've got RIBS!!!

HOMEWORK

This week we marched into class and bold as brass Mum says, "We haven't done our homework". DOOF. Couldn't we be like everyone else and bluff - they might not've known. Mum said it was twas we had been very very busy. I actually wasn't that bad so reckon we could've bluffed it.

Homework???

What was our homework? Heaven only knows. First I thought we were in for a game of "PICK UP STICKS"

Then maybe we was meant to be playing norts n crosses?

Knitting anyone, Knit one, purl one, drop one, woof.

Ah, of course, weave poles, why didn't she ask me I would have told her at the beginning what they was. Sometimes I think she's just a really really slow learner, but I'm bearing with her, she is trainable.

Trying to tell her she is not meant to be a clicking and a YESSING in the middle bit here cos that just slows me down. I reckon she'll click onto it in another couple of weeks.

Now you're getting it Mum, see its really not that hard. But maybe you just need to do a bit of homework each night. Not be lying round on the couch reading. Oops, wasn't meant to tell you that.

And of course this was what the rope was for, not for knitting, but to tie up the ever helpful Goose, cos Mum only needs one teacher at a time.

And theres no show without Punch. Dougal next door always has to watch in on the proceedings just to offer helpful advice like..... Thanks Dougs.

After much waiting around I finally started agiliteez on Thursday night. You could say I'm a late life starter. It was very cool cos the other dogs in my class are another Border Terrier, a Foxy and an Ozzie. So a class full of terriers. Lucky lucky Roy & Simone our instructors!!

Mum was oh sooooooooo excited about us going to agiliteez. Dog bless her.

I have a bit more dignity. Someone has to be growed up in our house!!

There's whisperings going on that I am going to be doing the next course of agiliteees. Nope this is not me, but it could be me in the near future. Oh puleeze, when will Mum learn I am the King of Loungin Bout.

All this jumpin. Bindi makes it look easy but I'm not convinced.

And as for balancin on one paw on the top of a high bridge, Pepper you gotta be joking.

Mum spent the morning practisin with her new camera. As you can see she needs lots of practise , I think the dog was long gone by the time she clicked this photo.

While impawtint agilitee stuff was going on, others of us was just messin about. Koda trying out Jet for prime jockey position.

This is what I started off Saturday morning looking like. Full winter suit on. Well after Mum got bored with her camera she had nothing to do and all day to do it. So this is what I looked like by Saturday afternoon.

Had to go to the beach with the other dudes in my undies. How rude. And its not even a proper job, I've still got my ugg boots on. In fact I look a bit like a brown schnauzer. I'm not going to make it onto Border Terrier Monthly looking like this now am I?

Mum accidentally took this really cool shot. Just shows you what can happen if you take a gazillion photos, you might get a good one. I think it would have been alot better if it had had a border terrier in it. But there you go.

AFTER FOUR

With only one month till daylight savings starts we are making the most of our local beach.

Freedom for us doggies off lead before 10am and after 4pm. Seems every dog and his man was down here last Sunday.

Met an oodle and a schnoodle. I think I'm in love with this black one Mum , can we take her home. The Goose and Ash won't mind.

Oh fun, a dog pile. Nope its not Bailey or Charlie Brown. He was a bit of a scaredy so we moved on.

Interviewed a schnauzer but .....................

............. he sloped off and started digging holes in the middle of the interview !

Mum says I seem to now be getting over my barkalottus at black labs. This one didn't need any barking at at all.

Us Border Terriers being so cute and highly trainable are often to be found with the starring role in movies and tv advertisements. We all know the movie Something About Mary with Puffy. And Hubble the Border Terrier from Outta Space in Good Boy. This week we have had the Border Terrier Film Festival Down Under with some movies made just for us. So drag up your favourite couch and see if you recognise any of our movies.

Audience is starting to arrive, heres Ruby, Lizzie and Archie with their favourite pawson.

The last entry in the drama section "MARLEY & LOLA" a romp through the English countryside and various snackin on the way seen through the eyes of two fearless sqwirrel hunters.

Only two entries in the musical section. "HAPPY FEET" starring Bodie and a rarely seen green flippered South Pacific Penguin.

Move over John Travolta. "SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER" as you've never before seen it.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water. DEAD ANT DEAD ANT DEAD ANT.

One of two entries in the thriller section. Some of us Border Terriers were a bit scared in this movie as we are not all keen on getting more than our toenails wet.

And the "WIZARD OF OZ" which features a very skeery witch. Us Borders being a bit windy this one is classified as PG, as is PAWS.

PINK TUTUS & UKELELES

It would appear that New Zealand is cancelled today, due to lack of interest?....... 2pm on Saturday afternoon and I have the whole of the Auckland Domain to myself. Where is everybody?
The day started off pretty slow, and just didn't seem to get going any faster. Morning.

Finally after a morning of unforgivable laziness Mum decided that it was high time she went and picked up some stuff that has been lying round her office. Whoa, what a mess, better tidy that up. She said lots of people at her work cycle so they have bits n bobs lurking in piles too. Thats some pile.

So I went in to supervise and then afterwards we went across the road to the domain which is beside her work. See there was not much going on just a sad boggy game of footie that even I couldn't bear to watch.

Even this was more interesting.

I couldn't bear to watch this either but I help made it look good.Grew some fur while Mum lined up yet another photo. Would you hurry up this marble is cold and I could be getting piles. Being a doggy model isn't all its cracked up to be.

BODESHEAD REVISITED?

It was round about now that a very nice lady in a pink tutu, with a ukelele slung over her back asked if she could take our photo. I think Mum should have taken a photo of me with the pink tutu lady, pink would have showed off my furs better.

To backtrack. This morning Moss was doing a demo for a community group. Here he is doing some posin with Fred Astaire..... FLIPPIN SHOW ORF!!Mum said I coulda done some dancing with me Penguin here too cos it was inside and I couldn't have run off ha ha ha, she thinks she's so funny. But the penguin had hurt its flipper when it was practisin dancing with Moss and couldn't get its penguin feet on. Oh CRY ME A RIVER!!!

So when Mum went to take Moss home she couldnae get the key in the door (well that's what she told Moss' Mum anyway and she brought him home for me to play with.) YIPEE

So he investigated my grand estate from top to bottom.

WIZARD OF OZ AUCKLAND

Nup, you're in Western Park Auckland New Zealand - LOOKIN FOR TOTO.......Today I went to watch all the doggies who were auditioning for the September live performance of Wizard of Oz to be shown in the Aotea Centre. Here is the line up of some of the hopeful candidates.

Here is Dorothy meeting someone who even looks like Toto, a Cairn Terrier. There were terriers everywhere, we were in terrier heaven!!!!

My friend Brody was trying out for the part too, so he was excellent and he will show you what they were meant to be doing......

Standing around not looking too concerned while some really loud music was playin......

Meeting Dorothy and not getting concerned about other people cos they'll be with lots of new actors and stuff. Nup Brodys not concerned at all, whats that down there.

Well, we were very pleased to see that the Border Terrier contingent was being represented with Sadie.

Cept the Meet the Chickens was probably not a PASS.

Ok so that bit was an Epic Fail. Moving right along.

While the judges were deliberatin and stuff - (probably givin CPR to those chickens) me and Bails went for a bit of an explore through the park which is an awesome off lead dog park right in the middle of Auckland City. We are really lucky with off lead dog parks here in Auckland, fingers paws and leads crossed it stays that way. Picture of an awesome tree in said awesome park.

An artist has also created some very looking old buildings art to make it look even more fantabulous. I had a bit of a climb about.

Hmmm, interesting, but, ....... um, hey.......

This stuff has got some weird angles and I ...... um................. can't.............. kinda ....... GET OFF!

Seriously, no joking about....... you're gonna have to call the fire department to get me down.

Phew, well back to the proceedings and normalcy. Paparazzi stalking me. Don't worry, am used to it. Mum stalks me with a camera 24/7.

WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT?Sorry for this brief interuption to 'The Bodesters' blog but interested in your opinion. I've been watching one of Bodies dewclaws which has cracked and kept thinking yep must get him up to the vet to look at that. Think it was one that escaped his last pedicure or two. Anyway yesterday concerned at a bit of foot chewing I had another look and it is basically broken in two places. Think of your thumb with a break under the thumbnail and another break at the first joint. Anyway we were going on a special walk today which I didn't want to mess with by having a Sunday morning DIY operation, so thought I'll have a look at some DIY when I get home or make a management decision for a vet visit. It doesn't seem to be bothering him. So yesterday arvo had another look and it looks like the dodgy photo above taken on the "pink" camera. The two broken bits are the smile you see at the bottom of the photo and the bit on the left at the top is a "PERFECTLY FORMED DEWCLAW". There appears to be some white quick exposed and curled back at the bottom with the redundant two bits of claw but it looks dried out and crusty and touching this with my nail doesn't seem to bother him at all. Anyone who knows me knows that my dogs only have to look at me funny and they are whipped up to Niamh at the vets quick smart so I'm not using you as my vet enquiry, but it seems to me that dogs deal to dew claws themselves. Bodies dew claw on his other foot is perfect which means it either got better attention at the manicurist or by the Bodester himself. Lets face it dew claws are redundant and there's no one out with a handy clipper for the wolves in the wild. What do you think?? I'll be checking it daily and if its not looking like something I like in a couple of days the vet will get the privelege of yet another visit from Bodes.

Back from their ride and now into a quick all over paw check to make sure the Goose hasn't got a prickle.

Owwchiy. That looks like some lickin has been going on, nothing to do with todays wee trip round the block. Might need some pawpaw ointment onit.

For my quality time with Mum on Sunday we worked on a new trick I am learnin. It's a secret but you might be able to work it out. Good on you if you can, cos for the heck of me I'm having trouble decyphering what on earth Mum is wanting me to do. All I know is that when I learn a new trick theres a lot of clickin and a treatin going on.

Hmmmmmmmm, wonder how long I can spin this out for. Clickin and a treats, clickin and a treats.

Hey, you can't blame that collateral damage on me. The Goose tried to get involved in the proceedings. Sheer vandalism.

I have been hearing mutterings that maybe on this trick we have "bitten off more than we can chew" and I "might have to backtrack a bit".

It isn't every day that a guy gets a big bunch of beautiful flowers. Wow, who can these be from? AWWWWWWWWWWW they're from my girlfriend Honey the Great Dane, gee thanks Honey they're just gorgeous!

Some of you might remember a couple of months ago me and my friends Cinnamon the Beagle and Charlie the Poodle were asked to help judge Honeys dancing with the Doggy Stars Competition. Well this weekend was the Big Event.

For the past two months doggies and their humans have been practising and a pointing, boogying and a breakdancing from Belgium to the USA, from France to Estonia and all the way down to NZ. 31 entries of fun and laughter. It was really hard judging them cos we thought they were all fantastic.

Its the Goose here. Me and Mum decided to have a GIRLS DAY OUT and so left the Bodester at home looking after the cat. So where do girls go on a GDO - the spa of course.

Jumped in the Border Terrier taxi and 30 minutes later we arrived at K9 Aqua. K9 Aqua is for doggies if they have injuries or need exercise or just for fun. While I'm fit and healthy I never get to go off lead so we thought we should give this a try to give me some fun and freedom without being on a lead or tied to Mums bike.

So - just got here - I've been dressed up in a funny coat and now -WHOA, that looks like a bathtub and a half.

Hi Karynne, oh you have NOMS - why didn't you say.

THE LIONS TALE

The lion rests in his lair , a hard day of guarding his pride coming to an end.

Until LO, the white hunter returns. What do you want with us white hunter?

Nooses are thrown on the ground as if in challenge, the lion and the GOOSE are lassooed by the neck and dragged out into the icy wastelands.

Dark, cold, unforgiving, an icy blast comes up from the Desert Road.......

Hour after hour, mile after mile, they are dragged through the dark, wintry, barren suburbia.....

Until finally it is time to turn for home.

Lit only by the pale moonlight, and the fading hope of dinner.

Back into his rightful place, the lion rests with his pride.

Epilogue from the Ed aka the White Hunter: Since a puppy Bodie has been not that impressed with walks on leads and has to be bribed out of the house if you can believe it. He is more than happy for me and GOO to wander off out the door, he doesn't make a peep and can be found happily waiting for us when we get back. I am ever amazed - a dog that doesn't get excited by the sight of a lead!!! On a walk he will find any excuse to turn for home, rain, too far, sometimes it is easier to turn back than drag him. We are lucky to live 5 minutes from grounds where I can let him off, he is great off lead, he doesn't stray far and comes immediately when called. Goose on the other hand feels much more secure on lead and would happily go for many walks a day, wave a lead at her and she is dancing on the porch, not hovering behind the door or lurking in the hallway as is the Bodester!!!

AUTUMN

We're still enjoying the warm weather and even better we're easing slowly into hibernation mode. On Sunday afternoon we went for a wee toddle round the uni grounds which are just down the road. Lots of space and not many cars about especially on a Sunday. We just have to watch out for the odd learner driver.

Always on the alert. We've just passed by a couple of rabbits that were bigger than the Goose. You never know whats hiding under all those leaves.

Look into my eyes, I can feel a treaty moment coming on.

We're not climbing up there are we, this is meant to be a leisurely Sunday arvo stroll, not boot camp.

And there's no rest for the wicked. I'm still working hard training my penguin. I can now walk on penguins feet which have been cut down to a more manageable size.

POOTER PROBS

My pooters a bit stuffied. A couple of weeks ago the screen started rolling. We didn't know if someone had sat on it or it had got some wobbly electricities. Uncle Mike took a look at it for us and took the back off it. He said it was full of dog hair and he had to vacuum it out. He asked if the dogs slept on it? Wot dogs, do we have dogs Mum?

Do dogs sleep on pooters? How strange!!! Anyway, it had to go to the pooter shop and get a new screen.......

Gwan Ash, you can tell me, did you drop your furs all into the electronics?? I won't tell anyone - promise.....

Well its back, and working - sort of - now we find we can't upload our photos cos it says it can't find the programme. Mum has gone to have a lie down with a big bottle of medicine. And we are getting on with business as usual.

Hopefully we will get it all sorted and programming will resume shortly.

INTERVIEW WITH A FRENGUIN

I am honoured to have been asked to be on a panel of 3 judges to judge a dance competition to be held over the next couple of months. Part of my brief is that I showcase a dance routine. Being a really busy guy I did ask if I could simply show one of my existing routines but was told not to be so lazy and to do something fresh. So this week I advertised for a dance partner. To date I have had only one applicant. The following is the interview. Hello there frog, welcome to smallbrowndogstv. Thanks Bodie nice to be here - - Ahem, I'm a penguin actually ....... What's with the green flippers - shouldn't they be black? It's algae, - very hard to get off.

How rude, yes I have big feet, time to see a chiropodist and have them trimmed.

Oh dear, now I've hit a nerve the penguin has started to chew its feet.

SOCIABLE SUNDAY

Well look who I met today out at the beach. My compatriot here is "Stones Murphy" and he is six. I know he looks quite different from me but that's just cos he's a Blue N Tan Border Terrier which you don't see many of. And he has his winter coat on ready to go. Murphy sat nice and still for this photo cos he'd discovered Mum had treaties. The day started off really slowly. Didn't roll off my duvet till 10.30 when Baileys Mum rang and asked did we want to go out West to Kakamatua for a walk. 3 hours before high tide so the estuary was about my size. Here we go, Bailey leading me into trouble. Bailey got an attack of the zoomies as soon as we got there. She had spotted 3 other chocolate labradors out there - as usual - whats with the chocolate labs.

ITS SUPER BODIE!!!

Another weekend away, you'll think I'm a jetsetter, nup no overseas trip, just a wee trek down to Taupo with my buddies. Here's me n Moss just hangin.

Across the road from where the Taupo club hold their dog show there is a huge big field that the farmer opens up to us so we would like to thank him this week for just letting us RUN FREE. Much of the time we see signs like "NO DOGS" "DOGS ON LEAD" "DOGS UNDER CONTROL" yada yada woof.

As I have to share my blog with Mum occasionally she wanted to put this photo on, this in Jinx and Tip, they are NZ heading dogs (farm dogs) and next to Border Terriers mum thinks these girls are pretty fab. I think she likes the gremlin ears.

BORDERS DOWN UNDER

This is Bodie the Border Terrier reporting to you tonight from my favourite supine position on the couch. In tonights programme we would like to introduce to you some fellow Border Terriers that live down under in New Zealand.

First up I would like to introduce Kenzy and Tamalee. They both live in Auckland not far from us. They do lots of energetic stuff and are always out n about.

They both do Agility. This is Kenzy sporting a fine pair of flying ears, always helpful in agility jumps.

Kenzy again full of the joys of spring.

New Zealand has a small population of 4 million people and 60 million sheep. Much of the population is in Auckland, and in some areas obvious overcrowding occurs. I would say the rules here would have to be last in first out.

Someone's been moved on and these guys have had a room upgrade.

We interrupt this episode for a news flash. Two otters have escaped from the Auckland zoo and were last reported sighted in a suburban pool.

Border Terriers do have otter like heads, and you can be forgiven for believing that news flash cos last year Jin the otter did escape from Auckland zoo. Our friend Skye was used in Search and Rescue and was brought in to track Jin. She successfully pointed them out through the Meola reef and Jin was found at Rangitoto - a volcanic island in the Auckland harbour a few days later. Kenzy and Tamalee look right at home in this wobbly blue stuff.

This is Lilly and her babies. Sorry to interrupt you Lilly but we had to show off your lovely pups. Check out those little otter heads.

Lilly & her sister Ruby here live on a farm. Ruby is the cowhand, here she is helping out with the evening milking. Good on yer mate, someones gotta help pump up our GDP.

That's the end of tonights episode, now it's time for me to pack Mums bag for work tomorrow. Ruby will appreciate my thoughtfulness below. (Found this "thang" in my handbag going out to work the other morning - I'm sure it was packed with love - ed)

SUNSET AT PAHI

On Saturday morning Mum made the shock announcement that she was going up to Pahi for the weekend and we were staying home. What do you mean we're not going, you're taking the Border Terrier Taxi out with no Border Terriers!! WARNING: There are no Border Terriers on the following post.

Mum went up to stay with Aunty Laurel who has 7 dogs at her place at the moment. 4 of her own dogs and 3 puppies that were leaving to go to their new Mums. So another pair of hairy legs round the place just wasn't needed. Here's the last 3 of a litter of 7 - Sam, Petra and George. This is Sam doing his scary face.

Don't be thinking you can bring one of those home Mum.

Two poopies now gone and now just Sam left on his lonesome, well he's not so lonesome, he's got these four troublemakers to show him the ropes.

Mum got into a bit of trouble on Sunday morning. She was told to put her shoes up on the shelf, but she didn't hear the bit that she had to put them up HIGH on the shelf.

Lucky those were her million year old tevas. There was one good pair of shoes left but they wasn't matching so she wore her bare feet home.

Pssssssssst - I know you ate those shoes buddy and you are still only a big puppy but I'll tell them I did it okay cos I'm a fresher puppy than you and they don't expect me to know much about anything yet.

No it wasn't Cooper that did it, twas me.

And to all my Border Terrier fans, I just smuggled in a photo of my gorgeous self at the end when Mum wasn't lookin. Thanks for your patience.

DINNER IS SERVED

Is dinner ready yet? Not wishing to hurry you , just wondering if I have time for a stroll round the grounds before tea and a bark at Dougal and Sally.

Its a bit of a rigamarole round tea time these days. Goose is a bit itchy scratchy with yeasty skin and so Mum has got a new suite of beauty products for her.

So before tea Goose gets her ears purple powered. Mum also purple powered the carpet and the concrete on the first night, I'm not sure how pouring it on the carpet helps Goos ears but its not up to me to question what Mum's doing. So now the operation is performed on the grass.

And then she gets Hydrogen Peroxide wiped over her lickety legs.

All that beauty treatment but unlike me I don't think Goose is going to be on the cover of Border Terrier Monthly.

Next up she gets 5 drops of systemic yeast formula on her tea. And an omega 3 pill and a fish oil pill. Ah I'll pass on that lot thanks but if you could hurry proceedings along I'd be grateful.

For the next 6 weeks she is only allowed to eat rabbit and tripe. She can have all my rabbit I don't do rabbit. That's my bowl on the right, nice tasty brisket bone.

Are we ready yet, a guy could die of starvation with all this messin around? I think I'm being very patient.

And a tripy iceblock we always have it in a iceblock cos Mum says it stinks to high heaven if its not frizzed. And there's less chance of us getting it round our wee mouches and cleaning ourselves on the carpet.

And for me - frozen brisket on a bed of fresh greens. delish

What Mum didn't tell the vet was what Goo eats from the fresh produce in our garden.

Fresh sunripened red guavas for starters specially mouthpicked by Goo.

Followed by fresh live cricket.

Smells good.

Yep well deaded now.

RAINY DAYS IN KAWERAU

Me N Max have been down in Kawerau for the weekend. It started raining when we left Auckland on Friday and it was pretty much raining when we got there 5 hours later, and all the next day, and yep still raining on Sunday. So alot of mooching about by yours truly. I'm not complaining, this is the face of a happy camper.... warm and dry and not having to do much more than guard the bus.

Mum was stewarding at a Champ Show, which meant she got to stand out in the field and tell people and their dogs when to turn left and right and sit down. And it rained......

And it rained......

And me N Max mooched

And mooched a bit more ...

By Sunday we had mooching down to a fine art....

Even the doormat was getting into the swing of it......

At least we didn't have it rough out in the rain like these poor sods....

Max was meant to be doing some of his dancing training and we even lugged his great big box down with us but it was too wet to get it out of the van. Mum said we're not lugging that beast all the way round the planet for it not to be useful. So she found a use for it.

Despite cramped conditions we did manage to set up a film studio inside and film the new trick that Max's mum has taught him. And then I gave it a whirl.

We got a flat tyre on the way home and had to wait for the AA guy to come and fix it for us. Max keeping an eyeout.

I am a water babe and love swimmin so much that I have been asked to be an honorary member of the Piha Surf Lifesaving Club. I keep in shape by doing laps in our pool.

I am an obedience champion and retired from bedience last year.

I am a mazing dancer and this is my mazing dance partner Honey.

Goose and I are in the NZ featherweight under 10kg weightlifting team for the Olympics.

On Friday nights the Goose and I play in a band called "Two Non Blondes". That's Goose on the guitar and me on the blues harp.

LOOKING FOR VENGEANCE

Grief it's HOT and to top it off Mum say's my winter coat has come in with a vengeance. What's a vengeance Mum and how did it get in? Maybe it came in over the fence. What's it doing with my coat?

Here's me not even a month ago in my summer togs.

And now 3 weeks later and you can't even see my collar. I think my coat just grew one night while I was sleeping.

The Goose, busy being hot.

Me busy being hotter, its a grillion dogrees and 100% humidity in Auckland, think I might have to move to somewhere cool like a drink bowl.

Back to hunting the vengeance, there's not enough room for one here with me, the Goose and Ash the cat, do you have to get a permit for a vengeance? Don't worry Mum, if it's here we will find it.

I think Goose has found it!!!!!

OH NOOOOOO MUM'S BEEN DRAWING ON MY BLOG! I've asked her not to be doing that and to find something more useful to do with her time like taking Goose out on the bike. Her drawing's so bad - a vengeance probably doesn't look like that at all.

TRICKS COMPETITION WINNER
